Hurricane Sandy – Red Cross Day 4

Today, one of my Red Cross bulk distribution teams went into a gas station in an area where we were told no help was needed as a result of Sandy. But they pressed on and asked around until they found a population of lower income homes hidden by what appeared to only be unoccupied summer homes – and as a result – had been passed over by all supporting organizations because of their remote location. They were able to unload their entire truck at a community church to people needing food, baby food and diapers. They found a needle in a haystack today.

We covered areas from Montauk at the end of Long Island all the way back through Mastic Beach.
