The event:
paws b’cause is a benefit concert of original acoustic music by Debbie Liske & Mike Garrigan, supporting Meals On Wheels of Durham – For Pets. The show will be on Saturday, April 30th from 7-9pm at the Five Oaks Clubhouse in Durham, NC. It is a fantastic venue that is perfect for singer/songwriter concerts with a relaxed atmosphere where you can chill to the music with snacks, beer, soda, wine or bring your own cooler even. But it’s only 2 hours long so come early to get a seat! The concert is free. Donations for the cause will be accepted and receipts will be provided for tax purposes.

The cause:
Meals on Wheels provides food for home-bound seniors with limited mobility. Roughly half of the seniors who are enrolled in MOW have pets. Several years ago, drivers began noticing that some of their elderly clients were sharing their meals with their pets. Those dogs and cats are important for people struggling to remain independent. So now, MOW volunteers deliver pet food as well – but it is not in the budget and therefore depends on donations. (If you would prefer, you could even bring a can or bag of extra pet food you already have with you to the show. We’ll have a basket there just in case!)

The music:
Mike will perform his original songs at 7pm, and then join Debbie and Ronnie from 7:30-9:00pm . It will be a fun night of music and entertainment while learning about and supporting a great cause. Both Mike and Ronnie have played pivotal roles on Debbie’s recordings. Mike and Debbie will each have CDs available at the show.

Five Oaks Clubhouse is in a neighborhood, so plan on a little extra time to find it. (It’s not that hard). The address is 5109 Pine Cone Dr, Durham 27707. You’ll see some signs when you get close. We’ll have a few snacks and drinks there, but we don’t know how long they will last, so you’re welcome to bring a cooler of your own and hang out after the show for a while.
